The Michael Jurist Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship was established in memory of Michael Jurist (SFS ’07), who studied at Sciences Po Lyon in the spring of 2006 and was tragically lost shortly after graduation. Funded by a generous endowment from Michael’s parents, this award intends to increase accessibility to study abroad in France by covering students’ transportation and immigration costs.
The Michael Jurist Memorial Scholarship is an award based on financial need and academic interest. Successful applicants will be current recipients of financial aid able to demonstrate how they will use the funding and able to articulate a genuine interest in the French language and culture.
Students on Georgetown-facilitated programs in Lyon, Strasbourg and at Sciences Po Paris are eligible to apply. In cases when there are a significant number of applicants, those going to Lyon will be given priority.
Applicants may learn more about Michael’s life by visiting his memorial website.
Interested students should download the application and discuss any questions they may have with the Global Education Advisor for France. Applications are due by January 31st for the fall semester and September 15th for spring semester. Should a specified deadline fall on the weekend, applicants may submit their materials the following Monday.
