Orientation
The Georgetown University Health & Safety Orientation is available in your myGUAbroad application after you are nominated, and is required for all outgoing students. This should be your first resource for preparing for a safe and health time abroad.
In addition, you will have a program-specific orientation you need to attend before departure. Depending on your program, this may be coordinated by an OGE team member, a faculty program leader, or a program provider/host institution.
Online Resources
The U.S. Department of State travel website has resources for students abroad , as well as destination-specific information and travelers’ checklists .
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has location-specific packing lists for students traveling abroad and a page devoted to study abroad .

Immunizations
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has location-specific health resources and immunization information on their website.
The Georgetown University Travel Medicine Clinic offers pre-travel consultations, immunizations, and post-travel checkups. The clinic operates on Wednesday mornings. Call (202) 444-0086 ext. 2 to make an appointment.
Mental Health Abroad
OGE has comprehensive resources developed on both culture shock and reverse culture shock.
Visit Georgetown’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) (or your home campus’s counseling center) to speak with a counselor before departure.
