Get Involved

Whether it’s playing a sport, joining a club, theater, or music ensemble, or volunteering in the community, exchange students are encouraged to get involved in university life. The best place to explore your options is CampusGroups, which contains information on all clubs and societies on campus, as well as contact information for each organization.

Yates Field House is the main sports facility on campus. Gym equipment and courts are available to visiting students, and Yates also offers opportunities to play club or intramural sports, such as soccer, volleyball, racquetball, rugby, dodgeball, kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, flag football, basketball, fencing, and water polo. Students can also take Leisure and Recreation Courses, including ballet, ballroom dance, modern dance, golf, swimming, strength training, and yoga.

The Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service (CSJ) is a hub at Georgetown University through which students, faculty, and staff can engage in Washington, DC through activism, advocacy, service, volunteerism, and community-based learning and research. Students may participate in either long or short term volunteer activities, alternative spring break programs, and various community outreach programs throughout the semester.

The Georgetown Department of Performing Arts, Mask and Bauble Dramatic Society, nomadic theatre, and Black Theatre Ensemble offer free and low-cost theater and orchestra performances throughout the year. They also provide opportunities for students to get involved in acting, directing, and technical theater.
