Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (new window)

Students on a Federal Pell Grant are eligible for the Gilman Scholarship, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE). The program supports undergraduates traditionally underrepresented in U.S. study abroad, including those with with high financial need, community college students, students in underrepresented fields such as the sciences and engineering, students with diverse ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students of nontraditional age. The program encourages students to choose non-traditional study abroad destinations, especially those outside of Western Europe and Australia.

Overseas Ambassador Program (new window)

The Overseas Ambassador Program seeks students willing to share their experiences overseas with the Diversity Abroad community. Economically disadvantaged students, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, and students from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Explore the World Travel Scholarships (new window)

The “Explore the World” Scholarship application goes live in January. Eligibility requirements include: US citizen or PR; 18 – 30 years old; demonstrated financial need; demonstrated desire to experience new cultures; service or educational component included in the trip. Awardees are expected to contribute to HI social media (Instagram/Twitter) and participate in HI DC’s events and programs.

National Italian American Foundation (new window)

The NIAF awards scholarships ranging from $2500 to $10000 on the basis of academic merit to students in two categories of students:

General Category I:

    Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open.

General Category II:

    Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.
